Hello everyone! Welcome to my wbsbite.

My name is Derek Tate and I am a Sports Anchor for NewsNet and the play-by-play voice for NewsNet Sports coverage of Michigan High School football, basketball and baseball games. In addition, I am the owner and on-air talent of Fantasy Focused, a fantasy sports podcast that is sponsored by the Original Hooters.

Prior to that, I had the opportunity to play-by-play for the Windy City Bulls radio broadcast (NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls) and fill-in as the sideline reporter for the TV broadcast on NBC Sports and ESPN+ for the 2018-19 season.

Also, I was the play-by-play voice for the Lincoln Way Patriots (semi-pro football), Chicago Dogs (independent professional baseball) and Illinois Swimming.

After playing a season of collegiate football at the University of the Cumberlands, I graduated from the Univeristy of South Florida.

My first experience with sports broadcasting was back in 2006, acting as the Public Address announcer for East Lake High School football in Tarpon Springs for 10 seasons. Lastly, I held an intership with ESPN 1040 in Tampa, FL as a board operator while attending USF.

Thank you so much for the taking the time to check out my website. I am incredibly grateful and blessed to work in an industry that I have had a passion for since I was old enough to hold a football.
